Preparing for a Human Resource Interview

Prepare yourself in a best package when reporting for an HR interview. To pass it, you need practice, confident and above all, be qualified.

The functions of Human Resource Recruiters are to examine job applicant qualifications if he possesses the necessary skills for a job position and to probe his personality whether he could easily fit into the company’s culture. If the Human Resource (HR) approves the candidate, he will be scheduled for another interview by his potential manager or employer. All the questions ask by the HR are similar no matter what organization you are applying for.

When you are scheduled for an interview by the HR, the first thing that you should do is to conduct a little research by gathering information about the company that you are applying for. You can search the internet for officer’s name and their philosophy just to have an idea if you are a good fit for the company. Likewise, you can have an idea of the interviewer’s perspective. Also include in your research about the company’s setbacks, accomplishments, finances, their products and services and to whom they sell.

Try to impress the HR recruiter by showing him that you are knowledgeable about the company. Check out who their competitors are to have a wider picture of the industry. If you can project intelligently and confidently that you have knowledge about the industry, then you are already impressing the HR recruiter and you might have a better chance of being interviewed by your potential employer.

Another way to prepare for an HR interview is to practice answering questions such as “Introduce yourself”, “What are your weaknesses and strengths?”, “How do you handle negative criticism?”,”Can you easily work and adjust with others?” There are samples of interview questions ask by an HR recruiter available online. You can go over them and practice answering each question as naturally and honestly as you can. Ask assistance from your friend by asking him to act as the interviewer. You may also prepare some questions for the recruiter. Write it down so you will not forget it when you are there.

Come in a business or professional attire during the interview. Try to look confident, competent and qualified.

Some interviews are also done over the phone. If this is the case, make sure that you have written all your information in a notebook so you won’t be mixed up. Turn off music, TV and stay away from crying babies and barking dogs when being interviewed. Make sure that the interview will not be distracted by any external noise.
